Hutch spiker's season cut short

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Hutchison Hawks swept the Eielson Ravens Thursday on their home court in an Aurora Conference matchup.

The win was great, but that is not how the Hutch volleyball program will remember this game. Part of a military family, Senior Alexis Burns played her final game in a Hawks uniform, as her and her family are moving to Germany.

She spoke about having to leave the team she has been building with the past four years.

"I am just sad that I won't be able to see our team succeed and go to state, because I know we are going to make it this year." Burns said.

Burns had seven digs and three kills for Hutch, as her teammates embraced her after the game one last time.

"I just love these girls so much," Burns said. "Every game is great, because we're always bring each other up and we never like put each other down. We always have a positive attitude and playing with these girls always makes me feel like a second family."

The Hawks will continue Aurora Conference play with a matchup against the Delta Huskies on Thursday.
