FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Goldpanners earned their third consecutive win over the San Diego Waves last night.
This 8-3 victory also secured their first series win of the year.
The Waves drew first blood, scoring a run in the top of the very first inning.
They held that 1-0 lead up until the bottom of the third inning, when the Goldpanners took a lead that they would never surrender.
They scored two runs in that frame and added one in the fourth, two more in the seventh, and finished the waves off with 3 in the eighth.
Blake Porter led the Goldpanner offense with two RBIs while Cole Carder brought himself home with a home run he knocked over by the Curling Club in the seventh inning.
Carder and Ben McKay shared the team lead in runs, both crossing home plate twice.
Jacob Fricke earned the win for the home team, pitching 6.1 innings and striking out 7 San Diego Batters.
This win secured the victory in the overall series for the Goldpanners, who won five out of the seven games.
They will now get a well deserved day off before starting their next series, a four-gamer against the Seattle Studs from the 20th to the 23rd.
