FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Goldpanners continue to stay hot in the Grand Forks International Tournament.
Wednesday, the Panners got a win in their opening round match up before facing a familiar opponent Thursday in the Northwest Honkers, a team they split a pair of games with earlier this season.
The bats came alive for Alaska who took game two of the tournament with an 8-6 victory over the Honkers.
Blake Porter paced the Panners with a 3 for 5 performance that featured a 2-run shot in the second inning. This was Porter's second home run of the season, which already matches his total for last year's campaign.
Cameron Walker has been impressive out of the bullpen, showcasing another perfect close for the save.
Connor Konishi and Aaron Kim added a pair of hits each to the Goldpanner's total of nine.
As the tournament continues, Alaska is scheduled to face the San Fransico Seals Friday at 3 p.m.
This won't be the last time the Panners face San Francisco this year, as the Seals are set to visit Fairbanks for a 5 game series in late July.
The purse for the Grand Forks International Tournament is $50,000.
