Gatorade names Delta Junction runner Hailey Williams Alaska girls Track Athlete of the Year

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Gatorade Alaska Girls Player of the Year for Track and Field has been announced, and this year's recipient will be from the Interior.
Delta Junction's Hailey Williams won the 34th annual award.
This win should be no surprise to anyone who has seen Williams run in the past couple of years.
She has swept the 100, 200, and 400 meter races in the Division 2 State Championships in each of the past two seasons.
In her High School running career, she has collected seven individual State Championships.
She also recently competed in the New Balance Outdoor National races against the top runners in the country.
She took fifth place overall with a 24.27 second time in the 200 meter race, a time which would have set a state record if the race was held in Alaska.
Another aspect of this award is that it honors athletes for their work in the classroom as well, where Williams has earned an A average heading into her senior year.
The Interior now has a clean sweep of the Gatorade Alaska Girl's running awards, with West Valley's Kendall Kramer winning the Cross Country honor, and now Hailey Williams winning it for Track.
