FAIRBANKS, Alaska - More and more academic honors keep coming in for the Alaska Nanook Hockey team.
Four members of the team were named WCHA Scholar Athletes for the 2018-2019 season.
The team captain Nicolas Koberstein, who recently signed to play professional hockey for the Kansas City Mavericks, was honored for the third time while Junior Goaltender Anton Martinsson received his second Scholar-athlete recognition.
Joining them this year will be Junior Defenseman James LaDouce and Sophomore Forward Max Newton, both of which earned their first recognitions from the WCHA.
To be named a conference Scholar-Athlete, the students have to average at least a 3.5 GPA for the past two semesters.
In total, there were 84 conference members honored in this 14th annual group of WCHA Scholar-Athletes.
