Fairbanks angler still holds top spot in Valdez Halibut Derby

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Valdez Halibut Derby continued with Week four of the competition held from June 9th through the 15th.
Our top fish from the week both weighed in at over 100 pounds. ​
In second place for the weekly standings we have Tallon Littlewood from Wasilla who reeled in a 104.4 pounder. ​
He caught his Halibut on June 10th on the Reflection. ​
The top fish for the week was only about five pounds heavier. ​
Heather Ropelato from Boise Idaho brought up a 109.8 pound Halibut on the Red Head on June 14th to win week four. ​
The top three overall fish remain the same for another week. Edward Wahmann from Tok is in third place with his 126.2 pounder, David Stack from Tyler Texas is in second place thanks to his 158.2 pound Halibut, and Fairbanks' own Christine Ives has first place locked down by a large margin with her 285.6 pound fish that she caught on June 6th on the Nunatak. ​
The Valdez Halibut Derby will run through September 1st. ​
The angler with the heaviest fish will win the $10,000 cash grand prize. ​
Second place will win $3,000 and third will bring home $1,500. ​
