Fairbanks Ice Dogs sweep Minnesota Magicians, strengthen grip on first place in NAHL Midwest Division

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs were also able to sweep one of their rival teams this weekend when they defeated the Minnesota Magicians 8-3 on Saturday night in Richfield Minnesota.
The Magicians scored the only goal in the first period, but a 6 goal second period gave the dogs a lead that they would never surrender.
Future Alaska Nanook Sam Ruffin led both teams in scoring, earning himself a hat-trick and an assist.
John Stampohar, Daniel Haider, Tanner Schachle, Erkka Vanska, and Jax Murray all scored one goal for the Dogs.
Murray also dished out three assists while Schachle, Jack Johnston, Hunter Wendt, and Nolan Schaffer all dished out two.
Luke Orysiuk, Kyle Mayhew, Erkka Vanska, and Caleb Hite all contributed one assist.
Goaltender Logan Neaton stopped 10 of the 13 shots he faced to secure the victory.
The Dogs strengthened their hold on first place in the NAHL Midwest Division thanks to the Sweep.
They are now 17-5-3-2 this year and are now 3 conference points in front of the second place Janesville Jets.
The Dogs will stay on the road this weekend when they take on the Coullee Region Chill down in La Crosse Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday.
