FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs wrapped up their weekend series on Saturday Night with their sixth consecutive matchup against the Kenai River Brown Bears.
For the first time this season, the Dogs fell to the Brown Bears, dropping Saturday's game 4-3.
The Dogs got off to a hot start thanks to a goal by Luke Ciolli in the final minute of the first period.
The Bears were then able to completely switch that momentum around with four unanswered goals in the second period to take a 4-1 lead.
Noah WIlson and Jack Johnston were able to score in the third to nearly steal the lead back, but it was too little too late.
Despite this loss, the Dogs won two out of the three games from the weekend and have won five of the six games against Kenai River.
Also, for his efforts this weekend, Jack Johnston was named the NAHL Midwest Division Star of the week.
He scored four goals over the three game series, lighting the lamp in all three games.
He helped the Dogs move up in the Division standings as they are now 14-9-1-2 overall and tied for second place with 31 points.
