FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs finished a weekend series against the Springfield Jr. Blues on Saturday.
This one went to a shootout, but the Dogs suffered another loss to the Blues.
Fairbanks jumped out to a two score lead thanks to goals by Jack Johnston and Jax Murray in the first and second periods.
Springfield then erased that deficit with two goals of their own in that middle frame.
Both squads were scoreless in the third period and overtime so we went to a shootout, where the blues were able to secure a 3-2 victory.
Brandon Puricelli and Ben Schmidling were able to score in the shootout period for Springfield, while Jax Murray was the lone Ice Dog to score.
The Dogs now fall to 9-8-1-2 on the year.
They will have a week off before heading south for a three game series against the Kenai River Brown Bears.
