Fairbanks Ice Dogs fall in Robertson Cup Championship

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Robertson Cup Championship game was held last night in Blaine Minnesota, and while the Fairbanks Ice Dogs put up a fight, it was the Aberdeen Wings raising the Robertson Cup.
The Wings were victorious 2-1.
Aberdeen got on the board first with a goal near the end of the first period.
Fairbanks was able to open up the scoring in the second period to tie the game up at one goal each.
That tie only lasted for about four minutes before Aberdeen regained the victory.
20 minutes of scoreless, grueling hockey in the third period then secured the victory for Aberdeen.
The Dogs were held to just three shots on goal in that final frame.
The Ice Dogs saw their lone goal of the night scored by Parker Brown.
Don't let this final game take away from the fact that the Ice Dogs had an incredible season.
The Dogs went from only winning three of their first ten games to the Midwest Division Champions, finishing the regular season at 37-16-3-4 overall.
They went a perfect 6-0 in the Midwest Division playoffs and rallied from a one-game deficit to eliminate the #1 seeded Johnstown Tomahawks in the Robbie Cup semi-finals.
They also saw 10 different players make commitments to play for an NCAA team next season, 9 of which will be playing at the Division 1 level.
