FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs were able to secure their first home win of the year on Saturday Night with a 5-0 victory over the Janesville Jets.
The Dogs were only able to score one goal each in the first and second periods, both of which came on rebounding shots from Luke Ciolli.
The Third period was where the Dogs finally pulled away for good, getting two goals from Jax Murray and one from Jack Johston.
Lucas Erickson finished with 2 assists to lead the team there.
Goaltender Nate Reid earned his first home shutout, stopping all 18 shots fired at him in his 60 minutes between the Pipes.
The Dogs are now 3-6-0-1 overall this year, and will host the Chippewa Steel this Friday and Saturday.
"On The bench we were just focused on staying relaxed and we knew once we popped a couple they'd just keep going, so we got a hold of it and kept pressuring in the offensive zone and eventually a couple went in," said Murray.
"We're definitely trending upward. We're definitely going up. We were kind of plateauing a little bit last weekend and then now we're just really trending upward. I think we're in a really good spot going forward," said Reid.
