FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Break out the Brooms, The Fairbanks Ice Dogs were able to cap off a 3-game sweep against their lone in-state rivals, the Kenai River Brown Bears.
Each game was dramatic and was decided by only one goal.
After Friday's 2-1 overtime win, the Dogs were able to escape Saturday with a 4-3 victory.
This one also went to overtime after Kenai River scored 3 goals in the first period.
Fairbanks was able to get back into it thanks to goals by Jonathan Sorenson and Ty Proffitt in the second period and Jack Johnston in the third to force OT.
Jax Murray then earned his second game-winning goal in two consecutive games to secure the win.
And on Sunday the Dogs were able to secure a 1-0 victory in a tough defensive matchup.
The one and only game-winning goal was scored by, you guessed it, Jax Murray in his third game-winner in a row.
Murray was named the NAHL Star of the Week for the Midwest Division for his efforts over the weekend.
Goaltender Mattias Sholl earned himself a shutout between the pipes to secure the victory.
He stopped all 36 shots fired his way in 60 minutes of work.
Those three wins will bring the Ice Dogs up to 12-8-1-2 overall this year.
They are now third place in the Midwest with 27 points.
The Dogs will now return home for three more games against the Brown Bears.
They'll be in action this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
