Fairbanks Hockey Classic raises $10,000 for Nanook Hockey Team

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Earlier this month, the Fairbanks Hockey Classic was held by Hockey Club Fairbanks.
This was a three on three tournament which saw a large turnout, with teams in both the youth and adult levels.
There were over 200 hockey players competing in this event with 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, 18u, and adult classes.
All of the proceeds from the event went to support the Nanook Hockey team.
The teams involved in this year's Hockey Classic raised $10,000 which will directly benefit the Nanook Hockey team.
We spoke with Nanook Head Coach Erik Largen about the funds raised, and the support from the community.
"It was an awesome amount. There was a lot of hard work by the volunteers that were behind the scenes to be able to form it, get all the teams together, and then also just the amount of donations from people that were involved. It was really nice to see and it will definitely help our program quite a bit. It's nice to be able to see all the kids in the community get a chance to be able to have some fun springtime hockey and be able to compete against their friends. See who's the best 3-on-3 player, so it's a lot of fun for them. I really enjoyed playing in it and it's nice to see all of the kids have a chance to do it now," said Largen.
