Faceoff Club crowns award winners in year-end banquet for Nanook Hockey

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Last night the UAF Face-off Club held their annual end of the year banquet celebrating the Nanook Hockey team.
They first honored some heavy contributors off the Ice as Bruce Cech won the Pat and Gerald Shields award and the Tavis MacMillan Alumni of the Year honor went to Trevor Hyatt. ​
When it comes to the player's awards, senior Nikolas Koberstein took home the most hardware with the Dirk Anderson Scholar Athlete, the Rick Pitta Most Dedicated Player, and the Team Player of the year Awards. ​
The Fan's choice award went to senior Chad Staley, and the Top playoff performer for the year is Tyler Cline, who scored a goal in each of their two games against Northern Michigan. ​
The Don Jamieson unsung hero award went to Sophomore Forward Justin Young, the Dean Fedorchuk most improved player for the year was Max Newton, and the Shawn Chambers top Defenseman award went to Tristan Thompson. ​
The Jandric brothers continued to collect post-season honors as Chris was named the Doug Desorcie top Freshman, and Steven was the Keith Street Top Scorer and the Steve Moria MVP for the 2018-2019 season. ​
They also heard speeches from three out of their four seniors as they said goodbye to seniors Nikolas Koberstein, Jack Weiss, Ryker Leer, and Chad Staley.
