FAIRBANKS, Alaska - In an Aurora Conference Contest, the Eielson Boys were victorious over the Hutchison Hawks in a 68-50 effort.
Hutchison actually held a one point lead at halftime, but the Ravens were able to outscore them 11-8 in the third quarter and then exploded with a 32 point effort in the fourth to secure their win.
Four different Eielson players scored double-digit points.
Matthew Scarboro led the way with 16 while Christian Bolton earned 15, DeAndre Ford dropped 12 and Chris Scott finished with 10.
Hutchison was led by a 23 point performance from Ross Matherly.
This was a big night for Eielson's leading scorer as Matthew Scarboro eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark.
We caught up with Scarboro after the game about this milestone, and his team's performance in this latest victory.
"It just feels so great man, since I was a freshman playing varsity my coach talked about it, a lot of hard work just putting in shots and it feels great. A big thing was communication and just some heart. We didn't play with that in the first half, guys weren't talking. But, as captain, you've got to direct guys, you've got to help them out. That really helped open up our defensive end, which helped the offensive end. It's really fun coming out every night, playing aggressive, getting boards, steals points... It's what we do. We're a family, baby," said Scarboro.
And in the Girls game Hutchison was able to defeat the Ravens 38-19.
Up next for these two teams, both the Eielson boys and the girls will prepare to head to Kotzebue for a double-header against the Huskies tomorrow, while Hutch prepares for tournament action down in Seward next week.
