Aurora teams fall in first round of D2 Hockey Tournament; North Pole wins consolation opener

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Division 2 State Hockey Championships began last night down in Wasilla.
It was a rough outing for our Interior teams, who all fell in the first round to Railbelt conference opponents.
The North Pole Patriots had the most competitive game in the first round, falling to the Palmer Moose in a 4-2 effort.
Palmer only had a 2-1 lead after the first two periods, but they outscored the Patriots 2-1 in the third period to advance to the next round.
All of the scores came from different skaters for Palmer while Daniel Crutcher accounted for both North Pole Goals.
The Delta Huskies lost their first round matchup to the top seeded Soldotna Stars, falling 10-0.
Homer also hit double-digits as they advanced with a 12-1 win over Glennallen, and the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears defeated the Tri-Valley Viking Warriors 8-1.
This forced all of the Aurora Conference teams down to the Consolation Bracket.
Earlier today, North Pole defeated Delta 8-4 in thei first consolation round matchup, while on the other side of the bracket, Soldotna will take on Palmer and Homer will face Juneau in the semi-finals.
The Championship game is set for Saturday at 5pm in Wasilla.
