All-Girls Dual kicks off wrestling meet between Lathrop and North Pole

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - There was a Mid Alaska Conference Wrestling Dual Meet last night at North Pole High School between the North Pole Patriots and the defending State Champion Lathrop Malemutes.
This one started off with what may be the first all-girls dual in the history of the Interior.
The Patriots won that all-girls meet with a team score of 34 compared to Lathrop's 18.
Out of the six wins the North Pole girls had last night, two came by fall and one by major decision.
The rest were won by forfeit.
Elizabeth Schumaker earned a fall in the 119 pound weight class while Dakota Darby pinned Kierstyn Bockert in the 125.
Macara Kobernuss earned a Major Decision victory in the 112 pound class for the Patriots while the Malemutes earned their falls in the 130 pound class thanks to Aiyana Erhart, and Desarae Matheny in the 160.
The Boys dual was an entirely different story as the Malemutes were victorious in a 60-10 effort.
The Malemutes earned every kind of victory in this dual, finishing with 2 wins by decision, 2 by fall, 2 by technical fall, and 2 by major decision.
The other four victories were forfeits.
They got their fall victories from Zane Lucksavage and Luke Millam, who pinned their opponents in the 125 and 140 pound weight classes respectively.
Andrew Shepersky and Sean Michel earned decision victories in the 189 and 215 pound classes.
Colton Parduhn and William Poland won in major decisions in the 119 and 135 pound classes, and the Technical Falls were scored by Kobe Ames in the 145 pound weight class and Nate Kisgen in the 171.
The Patriots earned their victories thanks to Sebastian Benefield by fall in the 130 pound weight class, and Brock Weatherspoon by Major Decision in the 285.
The Malemutes are now scheduled for a Dual Meet against the West Valley Wolfpack on Thursday.
