Alaska Nanooks fall 0-3-0 after meeting St Cloud in first series match

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks, in their home-opening match of the 2018-19 season faced the St. Cloud State in a conference matchup last night. The teams were persistent on both sides but ultimately the Nanooks dropped to 0-3-0 this season with the loss of last night's game. St Cloud won 3-2.
With both teams scoring in the first period it was clear that the Nanooks and Cloud State gave 110%. Kyle Marino of the Nooks took the first point at 3 minutes and 28 seconds of game-time with the assistance of Chris Jandric and Colin Doyle. This was followed by a point made by Cloud at 11 minutes of game-time.
The second saw only points made by Cloud State. Patrick Newell of the opposition took two for the team, solidifying their win. Though, that isn't to say the Nooks gave up. At about 3 minutes of game-time within the third, James LeDouce came in with their final point of the night with the assistance of Max Newton and Tyler Cline.
This game was not short on penalties. In fact the third saw the most with three players from each team doing 2 minutes for minor elbowing, slashing, high-sticking, boarding and hooking. Justin Young of the Nooks took two penalties within two periods as did Cloud's Blake Lizotte.
Though the Alaska Nanooks are down 0-3-0 this season they have a chance at redemption tonight at the Carlson with their second matchup against St Cloud University. May it be their best game yet.
