FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The University of Alaska Fairbanks Women's Basketball season is just getting underway, with only four games under their belt. The Nanooks are already loading up for next year, signing Destiny Reimers of Anchorage Christian School.
"As soon as I got there, the team and the coaches were just super loving. It's a great environment for me and as soon as I got there, it just seemed right for me." Reimers said after penning her National Letter of Intent at ACS earlier this week.
Reimers is a three-time state champion with ACS and earned All-Tournament honors each year (2017, 2018 and 2019). The Lions guard averaged 16.7 points per game her junior year and produced a game-high 15 points to go with seven rebounds in their 2019 3A state championship victory over the Nikiski Bulldogs. Reimers is also a vigorous defender and a strong facilitator on the offensive side. Through three state tournaments (9 games), Reimers has collected 35 steals and led the tournament in assists her freshman and sophomore year, providing UAF women's head coach Kerri Nakamoto with an all-around player.
Reimers and the ACS Lions will look to make it a four-peat this year when the 2019-20 season gets going. Practice begins state-wide on December 4.
