FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Alaska Nanooks the volleyball program earned a 3-0 sweep over the Western Oregon Wolves.
"Stand out job again on defense tonight, 9 blocks in 3 sets, and 51 digs in 3 sets, that's pretty outstanding. To go on top of that we also scored 51 points." said Head Coach Brian Scott.

The Nooks won over the Wolves thanks to the defense, as Alaska held them to only a 7% hitting percentage. That included 51 digs for the Nooks in only three sets.

"We were just really focusing on being disciplined on the block and not swing at the ball and just really try and take their shots from them, even if we didn't get a touch, just take away zone so our defense can play better.” said Alaska’s Emily Moorhead. “I thought we did a really good job just making sure we were being more disciplined on the block."

"I always love when my teammates do really good defense it makes, it kind of makes me want to do more for them,” said Alaska’s Makena Overbey. “So it was kind of cool to see everyone just being scrappy and like going after every ball."

The Nooks improve to 10-6 in the GNAC, and now prepare for a road match-up against Simon Fraser on Thursday in Burnaby, British Columbia.
