49ers rally to beat Wild in second annual Midnight Legion Game

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Solstice Weekend officially got underway at the crack of dawn this morning.
Our two interior Legion baseball teams played the second edition of our youngest solstice tradition. ​
The Fairbanks Post 11 49ers defeated the North Pole Post 30 Wild in the second annual midnight game by a score of 10-9. ​
The first three innings looked solid for the Wild, who built up a 7-3 lead. ​
The Niners started their comeback with one run in fifth inning and four more in the sixth. ​
The wild regained the lead with two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Niners completed the rally by scoring twice in the seventh inning and holding the Wild scoreless. ​
Gus Jensen led the Post 11 offense, finishing the day with two hits, two RBIs and a score. ​
Shaun Conwell pitched three innings for the Niners, striking out 6 batters and allowing four hits. ​
Graydon Lesneski also struck out three and allowed no hits in two innings of work. ​
Alex Garcia led the offensive efforts for Post 30 with three hits, two scores, and an RBI. ​
Next up for our legion teams will be action against South Central opponents tomorrow. ​
They will both be playing Palmer and East Anchorage at Noon and 4pm respectively.
