Vehicle catches fire during test-drive

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Local emergency personnel responded to the intersection of University and College Road on Saturday for a reported vehicle fire.
According to University Fire Battalion Chief, Pat Mead, there was no occupant or driver in the vehicle when personnel arrived.
"I think it was 8:35 was dispatch time and we arrived about three minutes later and found a vehicle about 50 percent engulfed in flames. We had water on the fire about 11 minutes after that and it was extinguished fairly quickly,” he said.
He added that the driver was test-driving the car with intent to purchase the vehicle. Firefighters dispatched to the scene cleaned up the fire quickly.
There were no injuries, nor any damage to the surrounding area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
