University of Alaska graduation commencement ceremonies cancelled

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) In a letter sent out to students and staff by University President Jim Johnsen it was announced that all commencement ceremonies for the UA system as a whole will be cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.

He went on to discuss and reiterate other steps the university has taken in order to help prevent spread of the virus including developing alternative curriculum for students to continue taking classes online as well as asking students to vacate residence halls by Tuesday March 17th, 2020.

At this time university staff are also being asked to work remotely and most meetings have been converted to different forms of virtual communication.
