FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The UA Board of Regents is providing the chance for members around the Fairbanks community to give an audio testimony regarding the budget cuts and restructuring of the University system.
This is a call-in event that will happen on Monday, September 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. The board of regents asks that the community call in and enter a queue before speaking.
If the individual is accepted, they will be transferred directly to an audio conference and speak before the board. Upon transfer, they ask that the callers introduce themselves prefacing with:
“Mr./Madam Chair and members of the Board of Regents, my name is (your name), calling from (city)" before beginning the testimony. Comments are limited to two minutes per person and will be answered according to the chairs interest. At 8:15 on Thursday, September 12 there will be another meeting to discuss the testimonies.
John Davies, the chair of the board discussed just how important it is that the community provide their input.
"Of course the university in important to everybody in the state. So we want to hear from everybody around the state. What their opinion is on how we should proceed given the budget restrictions that we have." Said Davies.
