Toy drive to benefit needy Fairbanks families

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - It's that time of year, again when Fairbanksans come together to help bring a little cheer to kids in need.
For the last eight years, Madden Real Estate has partnered with local media, the United Way of the Tanana Valley, and Walmart to help gather toys for kids during the holiday season.
The 2017 Holiday Toy Drive kicks off this week, and will run from November 27th to December 17th.
Toys can be dropped off at any of the participating businesses' locations.
When the toy drive is over, the United Way will collect the gifts and distribute them to its member agencies.
Buyer Specialist for Madden Real Estate, Sam Oxman, and United Way Executive Director, Bill Wright, had some words of encouragement for those thinking about donating this year.
Sam Oxman; Buyer Specialist, Madden Real Estate>>: "Well, I encourage people to get out that have extra toys around, or have a little bit to give this year that can provide for a family that can use some help. I encourage them to stop by any one of the locations and make it happen."
Bill Wright; Executive Director, United Way of the Tanana Valley>>: "Think about the child or teen that might be receiving that toy at the very end of the whole process. What would you want if you were that age? What might make you feel like you're cared for, or there's somebody in the community that's thinking about you. Find a toy that might fill that need. Think about the joy that comes in the heart of a child who might receive that toy at the end of the day and how you can change their life with a gift."
