ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A Palmer grand jury has indicted a Big Lake man on a first-degree murder count in the death of a Wasilla woman whose remains were found last month. Alaska State Troopers say 24-year-old Adam Drew is also charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping and weapons misconduct in the death of 57-year-old Dolly Hampton. The indictment was handed down Friday.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A Coast Guard helicopter plucked five commercial fishermen from a life raft after their fishing boat ran aground in southeast Alaska. The crew of the Masonic, based in Sitka, radioed a mayday call just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and said their 62-foot fishing boat was going down. The Sitka-based helicopter found the stricken vessel at about 4 a.m.

UPDATE: On 5/3/19, a Palmer Grand Jury indicted Adam Drew, age 24 of Big Lake, for Murder 1, two counts of Murder 2, Kidnapping, and Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd related to the disappearance of Dolly Hampton. The investigation into Hampton’s disappearance began on December 6th, 2018 when she was reported missing by family members (AK18086642). After several months of investigation by Mat-Su GIU, SCIU, Palmer CSU, Anchorage ABI/TCU, and Mat-Su Drugs, the investigation determined Drew was responsible for her kidnapping and death. Drew has been incarcerated on separate, unrelated charges since 1/3/19. His arraignment for the charges related to murder and kidnapping is set for 5/8/19 at 1430 hours.
Update: On 4/10/19 the State Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the remains as that of Dolly Hampton, 57 of Wasilla. The SME determined the manner of death to be homicide. A suspect in her disappearance and death has been identified. The suspect is currently incarcerated for an unrelated crime and the investigation is ongoing. Next of kin has been notified. Hampton was reported missing 12/6/2018 by a family member (AK18086642). She was last known to be in the Wasilla area.
Original release: On 4/3/19, at approximately 2000 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a remote area of Big Lake after receiving a report that human remains had been located. Due to exposure to the elements, positive identification of the remains was impossible. The remains were collected and sent to the State Medical Examiner's office. Investigation continues.

On 06/06/2019, at approximately 2120 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address in vicinity of Clayton St. in Wasilla for a report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed that Bradly Stephens, age 47 of Wasilla, had damaged the property of another person at that residence. Stephens was arrested and transported to the MATSU Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded, without bail, on a charge of Criminal Mischief 5 (DV).
On 05/07/2019 at 0530 hours, Alaska State Trooper dispatch received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near mile 9 of the Old Glenn Hwy. Troopers responded to investigate. Investigation reveals Tanner Brewster, age 23 of Palmer, was driving while intoxicated when he ran his car off the road and into the ditch. No injuries were reported. He was arrested for DUI and transported to Mat Su Pretrial.

On 5/06/2019, at 1124 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Yory Milonas, 77 years old of Kodiak, at the Kodiak Department of Motor Vehicles. It was discovered that Milonas had a warrant for his arrest for Failing to Appear stemming from the original charge of Disregard of Highway Obstruction. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Kodiak City Jail where he was remanded on the outstanding warrant. Milonas was held on $100 bail pending arraignment.

On 5/7/2019 at approximately 0019 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported disturbance at a residence off of Mark Blvd in Nikiski. Investigation revealed that Sara Elizabeth Magnuson, age 33 of Nikiski, had assaulted two people inside of a home and was in possession of and discharged a firearm during the incident. She was arrested for two counts Assault 4th and one count each of Assault 3rd, Misconduct Involving Weapons 2nd and Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th. She was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial and held with no bail pending arraignment.
On 5/4/2019 at approximately 1444 hours, Soldotna Based Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI report that turned into a vehicle going into the ditch at the intersection of the Sterling Hwy and Tote road. Soldotna State Troopers were in the area and made contact with Debra Krause age 59 from Soldotna. Investigation revealed Debra Krause was under the influence of alcohol. Debra Krause was arrested and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial.

On May 7th, 2019 at approximately 1138 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were dispatched to the Spirit Lake Boat Launch, Kenai for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Investigation revealed William R. White, age 53 of Soldotna, was in possession of a stolen firearm. White arrested for Theft II. White was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was remanded and held without bail.
On 5-7-19 at 1009 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a single vehicle collision on Ravenwood Street, in Kenai. Investigation revealed James Stretch (59 YOA of Kenai) was driving his Dodge pickup when he had a medical issues causing him to leave the roadway and strike several trees. Stretch was transported to the hospital for treatment on non life threatening injuries. The pickup sustained major damage. Investigation is continuing.

On 5-7-19 at 0747 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report that a man with a warrant for his arrest was in the Sterling area from Anchorage. AST responded and contacted Xavier Senquiz-Ramos (25 YOA of Anchorage) who had a no bail warrant for his arrest for felony Assault. Senquiz-Ramos was arrested and remanded to the Wildwood Pre Trial Facility where he was held without bail.
Type: Wildlife Violation
On 5/6/2019 at approximately 1256 hours Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Marfa Molodih 45, of Anchor Point, for fishing without a valid 2019 sport fishing license. Molodih was observed participating in the Personal Use Hooligan Fishery. When contacted by Troopers she was unable to produce a 2019 sport fish license.
Type: Take/Possess Undersized Abalone
On 5/5/19 Alaska Wildlife Troopers Sitka Post contacted Charles Clark, age 75 of Sitka, and Jan Clark age 64 of Sitka, harvesting abalone in Eastern Channel near Sitka. Investigation revealed both Charles and Jan were in possession of three abalone less than the 3.5 inch minimum size. Both were cited with bail set at $150 in the District Court at Sitka.
Type: Illegal use of bait while sport fishing
On 5-14-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited a 16 year old juvenile male of Ketchikan for using bait while sport fishing in Ketchikan Creek. This violation has a set fine of $120 and an optional court appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan.
