ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Two teenagers from an Aleutians Island city died when the pickup in which they were riding drove off a cliff. The crash Thursday killed 16-year-old Karly MacDonald and 17-year-old Kiara Renteria of Unalaska. The city says the pickup was driven by 18-year-old Dustin Ruckman. The truck fell about 900 feet. Police are investigating.

According to the Fairbanks Police Department charging documents, William Chapple Benson entered Walmart requiring assistance. Walmart Loss Prevention specialist, Jon Phillips saw that Benson was highly intoxicated and called Community Service Patrol to pick up him up. Phillips told Benson to wait outside. Benson then became belligerent, exposed himself and urinated and defecated where he stood. FPD arrived at the scene where they saw the defecation on the floor and some on the wall. FPD arrested the man and charged him with a misdemeanor. Prior to this event Benson had two cases where he had been ordered to not be on the premises of Walmart.

On 5/9/2019, at approximately 2109 hours, Fairbanks AST attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle for a traffic violation. The motorcycle accelerated away from Troopers and merged onto the Mitchell Expressway. The vehicle changed lanes multiple times without signaling, and then exited the expressway at University Ave. On University Ave. the motorcycle began to weave between vehicles to pass them, splitting the lanes. AST discontinued the pursuit due to public safety concerns.

The motorcycle was spotted turning onto Sportsman Way several minutes later and stopped by FPD. The driver was identified as Austin Hebenstreit, age 19 of Fort Wainwright. Austin was placed under arrest and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without bail. Austin has been charged with Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer in the First Degree.

On 05-09-19 at approximately 2325 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a brown GMC SUV for a red-light violation on the Johansen Expressway in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Dennis Huntington, age 36 of Fairbanks, provided False Information concerning his name. Investigation further revealed Ava Vent, age 38 of Fairbanks, hindered prosecution of Huntington. Huntington was remanded to FCC on one count Providing False Information and Vent was remanded to FCC on one count of Hindering Prosecution 2nd Degree.

On 05-09-19 at approximately 2054 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on red Toyota Tacoma near MP 346 of the Richardson Highway near North Pole. Investigation revealed Michael Boseman, age 30 of Petersburg, had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for multiple charges related to Domestic Violence. Boseman was arrested on the warrant and remanded to FCC. Bail was set at No Bail.

On 05-10-19 at approximately 0125, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks responded a report of a Domestic Violence incident at a residence on Waugstroe in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Deborah Lillie, age 58 of Fairbanks, placed a family member in fear of imminent physical injury. Lillie was remanded to FCC on one (1) count Assault 4th Degree/DV.

On 5/9/2019, Valerie Calip, of Anchorage, and Wesley Sanford, of Anchorage, were indicted by a Grand Jury for Robbery, Theft and Vehicle Theft in relation to an armed robbery on 10/26/2018 at MP 71 of the Tok Cutoff Highway. All the charges are felonies. The Special Crimes Investigation Unit, the Anchorage Airport Interdiction Task Force and the Crime Suppression Unit assisted with this investigation.

On 10/26/2018 at about 1432 hours, AST in Tok received a report of an armed robbery at a private residence near MP 71 Tok Cutoff Highway. AST responded but the suspects left the area in a stolen black pickup truck and a white sedan prior to AST arrival.

Investigation revealed three subjects came to the victim’s residence asking for assistance. One subject produced a firearm and held the male and female victim at gunpoint while the two other subjects began stealing items from the residence, to include firearms and cash. All three subjects left the residence leaving the male and female victim’s tied up inside the residence.

Glennallen AST located the stolen black truck and attempted a traffic stop which resulted in a pursuit to Valdez. The male driver and sole occupant, Todd Margerum, of Anchorage, was contacted and arrested for charges stemming from the pursuit. Charges stemming from the armed robbery were referred to the Glennallen DAO.

The contact resulted in the seizure of two gallons of distilled spirits. Charges of Alcohol importation will be forwarded to OSPA for prosecution.

On 5/6/2019, a WAANT investigator in Kotzebue investigated a case of Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor. Investigation showed that a 27 year old female purchased and delivered alcoholic beverages to an 18 year old female in Kotzebue. A report is being referred to OSPA, recommending that the 27 year old be charged with Felony Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor, and the 18 year old be charged with Possession or Consumption of Alcohol by a Person Under 21.

On 5-10-19 at 1741 hours, the Soldotna AST K-9 Team responded to a report of a disturbance occurring at a residence located near Mile 90 of the Sterling Highway in Soldotna. Upon arrival, AST contacted Frank Standifer, (45) YOA of Sterling Alaska. Investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred between Standifer and his wife. Standifer was arrested and transported to Wildwood Pretrial where he was remanded on charges of Assault 4th, Domestic Violence and VCOR is currently being held without bail.

On 5/9/19 at approximately 1849 hours, Soldotna Base AST received a report of a possible Domestic Violence Protective Order (DVPO) violation. Investigation revealed, Joshua McDonnell (age 36 of Soldotna) violated the DVPO. McDonnell was taken into custody and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility on the charge of Violating a Protective Order, no bail.

On 5/10/19, The Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Anchorage Post issued a citation to Daniel Curtin 63 YOA of Anchorage, AK. Daniel was cited for failing to return his 2018 CM300 Copper Basin Moose Community Subsistence Hunt Permit as required by ADF&G. Bail was set at $120.

On 5/10/19 at approximately 0134 hours, Alaska State Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Ford Taurus for an equipment violation on E. Bogard Road near Copper Creek in Wasilla. Investigation determined Martin Boardman, age 54 of Wasilla, provided false information concerning his identity while attempting to avoid apprehension for an outstanding arrest warrant for a Probation Violation on the original charge of Burglary 1st degree. Boardman was subsequently arrested for the warrant and charged with the additional crime of False Information. Boardman was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held pending arraignment.

On 5/9/19 at approximately 2254 hours, Alaska State Troopers received three REDDI reports of a white Chevrolet Blazer that was swerving all over the road on Knik Goose Bay Rd. AST later received a report of a vehicle matching that description rolled over on Point Mackenzie Rd and the driver crawled out of the vehicle, leaving the scene before Troopers arrived. When AST arrived, Sherry Barclay, age 43 of Wasilla, was found hiding in the marsh a short distance away from the scene. Investigation revealed, Barclay was driving while under the influence of alcohol. Barclay was arrested, transported and remanded at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer with a $500 bail.
