ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska authorities say a 30-year-old Seward man charged with two counts of first-degree murder told officers he fatally shot two men inside their van after an argument broke out when he told them to leave. Joseph Chandler Jr. is being held without bail in the Monday shootings that left 28-year-old Dustin Marx and 40-year-old Michael White dead.

On 04/16/2019 at approximately 0259 hours, the Alaska State Fire Marshals were notified of a residential structure fire located in Big Lake which resulted in a building occupant receiving over half full thickness burns to the body. Two Deputy Fire Marshals from Anchorage responded to conduct a fire origin and cause investigation. Investigation is ongoing.

On 4/15/19 at 1555 hours, Apple Bus Company called reporting a vehicle had driven by a school bus that was stopped with the red lights flashing and stop arm extended at the intersection of the Sterling highway and Evergreen Drive in Sterling. Investigation revealed Debbie Joyce Lamb, 60, of Sterling, was operating the vehicle. Lamb was issued a misdemeanor mandatory court citation for Failure to Stop for a School Bus.

On 04/10/2019 at approximately 1458 hours, Soldotna AST received a call from Shane Williams who reported a theft. He sated his Glock 21 (45cal) gen 4 was stolen from his residence. On 04/10/2019 at approximately 0954 hours, Soldotna Alaska State Troopers received a 911 hang-up from a female reporting a disturbance in the neighborhood of Ciechanski Road, in Kenai. Further investigation revealed, Rebecca Curren had an argument with her husband then slapped him in the ear. Rebecca was arrested and remanded to Wildwood pretrial on the charge of Assault 4 domestic violence.

On 4/15/19 at 2149 hours, Troopers received a report of an assault which had occurred on Grumman Ave in Anchor Point. An investigation showed Natalie Cooper, 18 of Anchor Point, had assaulted a family member. Cooper was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail pending arraignment.

On 4/15/19 at approximately 1806 hours, Soldotna Public Safety Communications Center received a report of a shooting that had occurred in the Seward area. Subsequent investigation found Joseph Chandler, age 30 of Seward, had shot and killed Dustin Marx, age 28 of Seward, and Michael White, age 40 of Seward, after a confrontation had occurred. Chandler was placed under arrest for two counts of Murder in the First Degree and remanded to Seward Jail where he was held without bail.

On 4/16/19, at 1345 hours, Michael Friedrichs, age 29 of Juneau, was arrested on an arrest warrant at LCCC on the charges of Promoting Contraband in the 1st Degree and Promoting Contraband in the 2nd Degree. Bail was set at $100.

On 4/15/19, at 1536 hours, AST received a report of a stolen 2006 Yamaha Motorcycle which had been left broken down alongside Caribou Street in Wasilla. AST responded to the area and with the help of several citizen witnesses, were able to develop a suspect. Troopers responded to the suspect's residence nearby where the stolen motorcycle was located hidden behind the home. Skyler A. Brocker, 22 yoa of Wasilla was identified as being responsible and after AST had him assist in pushing the motorcycle back to the roadway to the victim's truck, he was placed under arrest for Vehicle Theft 1st Degree and Theft Second Degree. Brocker was transported and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on no-bail status pending arraignments.
