Police confirm second South Cushman homicide in two days

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Fairbanks police confirmed this afternoon that they're investigating the second homicide in two days on the 1500 block of South Cushman Street.
At 6:11 a.m. today, police got a call reporting an unconscious man bleeding in a South Cushman Street home. Police and paramedics responded to find 43-year-old John Thomas Preshaw dead at 1528 South Cushman Street. They're classifying the death as suspicious and investigating it as a homicide.
Police say their investigation is ongoing in the case, but they have yet to publicly identify a suspect in the case.
The homicide is the second in two days near the intersection of 15th Avenue and South Cushman Street. Yesterday, 57-year-old Jeanette Miller was found stabbed at the Alaska Motel at 1546 South Cushman Street; she died at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Police haven't yet identified a suspect in that case and have asked the public for help if community members saw any of the events surrounding the stabbing.
