FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The 30th anniversary of North Star Ballet's production of 'The Nutcracker' will help ring in the start of the holiday season.
The Nutcracker ballet will run from Friday, December 1st through Sunday, December 3rd, with a special alumni performance at 4 pm on Sunday.
The family friendly production will take place at Hering Auditorium, and will have a silent auction in the lobby.
Artistic Director, Courtland Weaver, shared with us why the ballet has withstood the test of time.
Courtland Weaver; Artistic Director, North Star Ballet>>: "Well, I think there's a couple things about it, I think the first one is that it's a really pretty production and it's a type of elegance that isn't seen very often. It harkens back to a more elegant age that escapes us today, and the other thing, or course is Tchaikovsky's music. It's really captivating and has become a staple of any kind of Holiday celebration, so I think those two things."
