Murkowski, Sullivan support Trump tax bill

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The US Senate today narrowly approved a decision, by a vote of 52 to 48, to open debate on a broad tax overhaul.
Both of Alaska's senators voted in favor of debating, and have voiced their support of the bill.
Senator Lisa Murkowski has pointed to lower tax rates, as well as the doubling of the child tax credit and the standard deduction, as reasons why she supports the bill.
Senator Dan Sullivan has said he believes Alaska, especially, will reap the benefits of the bill.
One aspect of the measure that affects Alaska involves oil and gas production in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
If passed, part of ANWR would be opened for drilling of oil and gas.
Many have expressed concerns that development in the refuge would affect wildlife there.
