Medical professionals and health providers gather for annual health fair

Medical professionals and health providers gathered at the Carlson Center Saturday for the annual health fair.
The Alaska Health Fair puts on the event to help members of the community stay healthy.
The fair had around 60 exhibitors, with medical professionals, representatives, and specialists from various fields available to answer questions from the public.
One of the main services the fair offered is discounted blood tests.
Attendees could get 11 different types of blood tests at up to 25 percent off clinic prices.
Carrie Correia is the vice president of the Interior Alaska Cancer Association, a local nonprofit that provides financial assistance and other services to those fighting cancer.
Correia says the fair is one way they get their message out.
"A lot of people come through at the health fair," Correia said. "We have been doing the health fair for years. We try to go to any avenue that has a large congregation of people. I mean cancer effects everybody I think, and all the resources that are available to people and that they know are available can be of a lot of help to them."
