Manhunt suspect facing attempted murder charges

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A Fairbanks man who was the subject of a manhunt in Fairbanks yesterday was arraigned in District Court today on charges of attempted murder and probation violation.
19-year-old Benjamin Akaran is charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of probation violation after an incident in Aurora Subdivision yesterday left one victim in critical condition.
According to reports, Akaran shot one of the victims before fleeing the residence on foot.
Another victim was able to call Fairbanks Police, who searched the area for nearly two hours before taking Akaran into custody.
The injured victim was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where doctors have reported that their injuries are "not compatible with life."
Akaran is being held on a $750,000, cash-only bond.
