FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Nulato in 2018 took a plea deal in court today.

20-year-old Shawn Demoski was charged with sexual assault in the second degree after he allegedly took a woman's clothes off while they were drinking. He told troopers he was blacked out, and that when he woke up, he ran away.

Demoski pleaded guilty to coercion in what Judge Thomas Temple called an 'unusual but legal' resolution to the case.

Demoski said he was sorry for any inconveniences he caused the state, court or victim.

He will serve 4 years of probation, and will not be allowed back in Nulato for a period of time.
