Man accused of home break-in on Thanksgiving appears in court

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - William Vent is one of two men accused of breaking into a home on Thanksgiving Day. He was arraigned in Fairbanks District Court Sunday.

According to charging documents, Fairbanks Police received a report of a home invasion in the Aurora Subdivision. Officers arrived at the home to find that Vent's accomplice, Michael Beard, and one of the residents had been shot. Vent had already fled the scene when officers arrived.

Upon investigation, police learned Vent and Beard used a four foot crowbar to force their way into the home. The roommates living in the residence told police the two men were dressed in black, wearing masks and had guns.

Beard and the injured roommate were transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment. Beard was later flown to Seattle for further treatment of his injuries.

No charges have been filed against him at this time, but he is expected to face charges similar to Vent who is currently being held on $250,000 bail.
