FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) A man charged with second degree assault after he allegedly hit someone at Fairbanks Correctional Center pled not guilty in court Wednesday.

According to charging documents, Jesse Ballot, 40, was seen on cameras punching his cellmate Gary John.

Corrections officers responded to the cell and spoke with Ballot who said that he didn’t have a pillow, and when he asked John for one he was spit on. Ballot then allegedly punched John multiple times.

Officers found John to have fresh blood on his face and upper part of his shirt. Troopers did not find any evidence of spit on Ballot.

Ballot is being represented by the Public Defender’s Office.
