Homicide reported in Fairbanks, suspect in custody

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Fairbanks Police Department has reported a homicide which took place May 23rd at 267 College Road.

The victim, 23-year-old Kayla Benjamin, was reported unresponsive by her boyfriend, Sikoya Francis-Fields, at 8:24am and was confirmed deceased at 8:46am.

Francis-Fields eventually admitted to causing Benjamin's death as well as the death of a dog in the same apartment.

He has been booked at Fairbanks Correctional Facility on a charge of Murder in the Second Degree.

Benjamin's next of kin have been notified.
