FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Students learned about the three R's today on post - Reduce, reuse, recycle - along with other sustainable practices.
"Earth Day!"
The Physical Fitness Center at Fort Wainwright saw roughly 500 children for Earth Day.
Fairbanks Fish and Wildlife Service, the Children's museum, and the Department of Environment Conservation were just some of the entities hosting educational booths the students were able to visit.
Mayor Jim Matherly along also spoke to eager ears.
"Just imagine how much cleaner it will be all the time, just one piece. There's strength in numbers. There's 500 leaders here sitting down with us today. Don't be afraid to say to someone, 'hey don't throw that down there.' Be an example to them," said Mayor Jim Matherly, City of Fairbanks.
