Fort Greely could get missile defense upgrades

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Interior Army post Fort Greely might be adding another missile defense silo field as part of an increased national defense budget.
President Trump recently sent a letter to Congress, requesting $200 million dollars to build a fourth silo field at the military installation.
If approved, the missile defense system at Fort Greely would surpass its current 40 interceptor limit.
The missile defense addition is part of Trump's requested $4 billion dollar budget related to recent tensions with North Korea.
The members of Alaska's three-member Congressional delegation have expressed their approval of the request.
Senator Dan Sullivan says he believes the budget will pass, saying "Missile defense has now become a very bipartisan issue."
