Fairbanks comedians fundraising for TV special

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Crowdfunding for crowd pleasing!
Alaska Comedy has launched a Kickstarter campaign to create a comedy special focusing on comedians' experience in Alaska.
Jerry Evans at Alaska Comedy is trying a modern approach to fundraising for a one of a kind comedy special.
To help celebrate 20 years of comedy, Evans is bringing up five A-list comedians in March, all of whom have previously performed in Alaska.
The goal is to record a special to sell to major networks such as Netflix, Hulu, or Showtime.
To help with the costs for the program, Evans is utilizing the world's largest platform for funding creative projects - Kickstarter.
Through the crowdfunding website, anyone can contribute financially to the project, called "20 Years of Alaska Comedy", but only for a limited time.
At yesterday's Rotary Club of Fairbanks luncheon, Evans discussed why he chose Kickstarter to help bring comedy to the Interior.
Jerry Evans; Alaska Comedy>>: "The reason that I did it as a Kickstarter is because it's going to take a lot of money to do this properly, because we have to film it professionally, we have to edit professionally to get the DVD printed up. So it's not to make money, but basically what you do with Kickstarter is you reserve. You reserve your tickets, you reserve a DVD. If you just want to donate 5 dollars to the fund because you believe in the cause, you can do that too, or if you want to become an executive producer? There's a way to do that."
From now until February 16th, anyone can make a contribution to the Kickstarter project.
More information about the upcoming special can be found at 'Alaskacomedy.com', and an extended version of Jerry Evans' interview will be available on our Facebook page after the broadcast.
