This distribution is part of a program designed to help keep kids of all ages busy while schools are closed. Wednesday marked day two of the three-day program, which allows parents to drive through and pick of a pack for each child under their care.
On Friday, March 27, packs will be available at the Wescott Memorial Pool in North Pole from 2-4pm.
Play Packs include Play-Doh, coloring pages, crayons, activities and games. According to Recreation Program Coordinator Lauren Eck, 500 packs were handed out on Wednesday with 250 distributed Thursday. Another 250 packs are available for the North Pole event on Friday.
“As our mission as a Parks and Recreation department, we want to bring recreation to everybody and add a little bit of fun even in the most difficult of times,” Eck said.
According to Eck, Parks and Recreation will be hosting another program next week called “Play at Home.” Participants will complete four challenges a day throughout the week to be entered to win prizes.
“Stay updated on our Facebook page -- we’re going to be coming up with some creative ideas throughout the next one or two months to keep you guys busy at home and recreating, getting outside, [and] doing creative things in the house,” she said.
