Fairbanks International Airport prepares for busy travel season

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The transportation Security Administration at Fairbanks International Airport says it's prepared for busiest summer travel season on record.

FAI's "Flightlines" newsletter reports TSA Fairbanks as predicting the daily number of passengers screened between Memorial Day and Labor Day will be nearly twice the number screened during other times of the year.

Based on departing passenger projections developed in conjunction with the commercial airlines that serve Fairbanks, TSA predicted it would screen an average of 2,000 departing passengers a day during mid-June. That number will continue to increase gradually throughout the summer, peaking in mid-August and TSA operations expects to remain busy through mid-September.
