FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) Governor Mike Dunleavy responded to the rejection by Senate Republicans of his appointment of Laddie Shaw to Senate Seat M.
Shaw was one of three names given to the Governor by Alaska Republican Party to replace Senator Chris Birch, who died unexpectedly while in office. Dunleavy said that Shaw would have been a great choice, and thanked him for going through the process.
He also criticized the Senate Republicans for seeming to only block Shaw because of his position on the PFD.
"In a statement issued by the Senate Republicans it appears now they are pushing a political litmus test based entirely on the PFD."
Dunleavy now has ten days to name a new replacement.
