FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Hillary Clinton announced her endorsement of democratic candidate, Mark Begich, for Governor Monday. The announcement was made on the former first lady's twitter account. Begich was one of a number of gubernatorial candidates that Clinton endorsed through twitter. Clinton's tweets are similar to President Trump's actions using the same social media outlet. The President took to twitter last week to endorse multiple gubernatorial candidates, including republican candidate Mike Dunleavy.
While both President Trump and Mrs. Clinton have clearly defined their endorsements, there is confusion among other politicians and who they support. Democratic Senator Bill Wielechowski says that despite liking Dunleavy, he is backing Begich for Governor, yet certain advertisements suggest he is supporting Dunleavy.
Likewise, current Governor Bill Walker has expressed that he does not endorse Begich for Governor, despite advertisements suggesting that he does due to comments made during his campaign suspension announcement. Both Walker and Wielechowski have requested that the ads be changed. A press release from Mike Dunleavy on Monday says Wielechowski is trying to run away from his own public comments.
