Chamber holds 51st Military Appreciation Banquet

FAIRBANKS, Alaska The Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce 51st Military Appreciation Banquet was held Friday night at the Carlson Center to honor local military personnel as well as civilians who make a difference in the military community.

Former mayor Karl Kassel was honored with a surprise presentation of the Jim Messer award, which goes annually to a community member

"This is an exciting evening for both the local community and for the military community that's represented here in Fairbanks, it's a nice way for the local community and the military community to get to know each other and build a relationship because the local community is important to our success as military people," said keynote speaker Vice Admiral Michael Dumont, Deputy Commander of the United States Northern Command.
