Candidate filing for the interior has begun

FAIRBANKS, Alaska Starting at 8 am Monday morning, residents were able to file to run for local government positions. For the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Shaun Tacke filed for reelection of Assembly Seat B and Allyson Lambert filed for reelection of School Board Seat D. In North Pole, Thomas McGhee has filed to run for city council.

This year, the Mayor of Fairbanks will be on the ballot. Current Mayor Jim Matherly says he is running for reelection, while Kathryn Dodge and Lakesha Jordan have both said they will be vying for the position, although none of them have officially filed.

With the clerk's offices closed today, there are now ten work days left for residents to apply.
