FAIRBANKS, Alaska - In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., attorneys are answering legal questions free of charge on Monday.
Consultations can include family, housing, landlord and public benefits issues.
They suggest bringing any documents that might be helpful, but they will have someone from the court system helping people navigate the website and finding forms.
Anyone with civil legal needs can come by JP Jones Community Center from 10 to 4 on Monday.
Teka Lamade; Supervising Attorney>>: "We're not doing any type of criminal questions, any areas of criminal law. So it's all civil legal issues. We probably won't do personal injury, we're not doing so much workman's comp, employment law issues, it's pretty much public benefits, family, landlord-tenant, social security, disability, that kind of thing."
Roseann Simko Wall; Local Attorney>: "We're going to have volunteers there from the University of Alaska paralegal system, we're going to have volunteers from the North Star Youth Court, and also law clerks from the Alaska court system. So it's really going to be a great event to see everybody working together at."
