FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Monday at 9:30 a.m., Fairbanks police sent out a 'NIXLE' alerting people of a standoff between authorities and an armed man at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. The standoff continued until police sent another alert at 4:16 p.m. saying the subject had been detained and the area had been cleared.
According to FPD, a patient was supposed to check himself into the Behavioral Health Unit, but he locked himself and a woman in his car and threatened to shoot anyone who comes near him. Officers negotiated with the man throughout the day.
