Anchorage anti-discrimination law considered in court

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - An Anchorage judge heard arguments in a lawsuit involving a faith based woman's center today. The Hope Center is working with the Alliance Defending Freedom to sue the City of Anchorage and its Equal Rights Commission to stop them from implementing an anti-discrimination law.

According to the Associated Press, the Hope Center was reported to the commission for refusing to provide shelter to a transgender woman. The city says that it is premature to block the law because their investigation into the incident isn't complete, largely because the shelter wasn't cooperating.

The Anchorage ordinance is similar to Fairbanks Ordinance 6093 which is being considered right now.
