Alaska residents have a chance to stake parcels of State Land

ANCHORAGE, Alaska Alaska residents have a chance to stake a piece of land to call their own.

The Department of Natural Resources is inviting Alaskans to participate in the 2019 'Remote Recreational Cabin Sites' staking program.

With a $75 dollar application fee, residents can apply in person, by mail, or online between August 19th at 10 AM and October 11th at 5 PM.

According to DNR, winners will receive authorization to stake their parcel within one of four areas.

Successful stakers will sign a three year lease with the state while the parcel is surveyed and appraised.
